US: Continental Materials has appointed Ralph Bove as senior vice president strategy and growth. The company newly created the role for Bove, as part of its efforts to enhance its national presence in roofing distribution. Bove’s background includes both branch and executive management levels in national and regional independent roofing distribution. Continental Materials says that his leadership will help to ensure the continuous improvements needed to meet current and future demand and changes in the roofing industry. Continental Materials produces fibre insulation boards for roofing, alongside other materials for roofing systems.

Ralph's experience in the roofing distribution business and his vast industry knowledge makes him a strong asset as we continue to expand our business and product offerings nationally. North America: Wood fibre insulation producer TimberHP has entered into a North American distribution contract with CertainTeed. Under the contract, CertainTeed will distribute TimberHP’s products across North America, including as its exclusive distributor in Canada. When fully launched, the offering will include TimberHP’s loose fill, batt and rigid board insulation.

Denmark: Architecture and engineering consultancy firm Ramboll has published a new study into the possible reduction in CO2 emissions offered by wood-based construction. The study quantified the total reduction potential at 12 – 39%. Materials included in the study included wood fibre or paper insulation, alongside structural timber and wood cladding. Ramboll analysed six types of buildings, including multi-storey and single-family houses.

UK: Zotefoams has raised its sales by 14% year-on-year in the first four months of 2023. The company increased its insulation sales by 57% and its high-performance products sales by 46%.

CEO David Stirling will step down from his position in Zotefoams on 22 May 2024, when Ronan Cox will replace him.

UK: Knauf Insulation UK & Ireland is preparing to build a €200m rock mineral wool plant to supply the UK market. The company is currently discussing with the authorities where the plant will be situated. The unit will have a production capacity of over 100,000t/yr and will use low-carbon electric melting technology. It is anticipated the additional capacity will become available in 2026.
