Dilroz Gayur commissions 50,000t/yr mineral wool plant in Sughd

Tajikistan: Dilroz Gayur has commissioned its new 50,000t/yr Sughd mineral wool plant at Chorukdarong in the city of Guliston. Trend News Agency has reported that the plant received domestic and foreign investment and will employ 60 people.

Mapei Spain merges Tecnopol Sistemas into itself

Spain: Italy-based Mapei has merged waterproofing, flooring and insulation systems producer Tecnopol Sistemas in Mapei Spain. Alimarket-Construcción News has reported that Mapei Spain will now assume management of the Les Franqueses del Vallès plant in Barcelona Province.

UK government to set deadline for high-rise residential building cladding remediation

UK: The UK government plans to require landlords to complete external cladding remediation on residential buildings taller than 18m by the end of 2029. The Observer Online News has reported that failure may result in criminal prosecution. Some 3700 buildings are affected.

Saint-Gobain India to advance 100-plant target with upcoming glass wool and stone wool plant

India: Saint-Gobain India has announced an upcoming glass wool and stone wool plant at an unspecified location in India. Projects Today News has reported that the producer is aiming to reach 100 plants in 2031 across its insulation and gypsum operations, from 82 in 2026. The growth is the subject of €1bn in ongoing investments.

CEO Sreedhar Natarajan said that the planned plants will help the company to target India’s growing sustainable construction segment.

Kingspan Group issues debut green public bond

Ireland: Kingspan Group raised €850m through its debut green public bond on 9 September 2026. It issued shares at a fixed average coupon of 4.1% per annum, due in two lots in 2030 and 2033. MarketLine News has reported that demand for the bond was five times oversubscribed, with the initial order book attracting bids of €4.5bn.

SigmaRoc to acquire Dolomitas

Lithuania: UK-based SigmaRoc has entered into an agreement to acquire Dolomitas, a producer of dolomite for use in stone wool insulation production, among other industries. Under the deal, SigmaRoc will pay €110m, including €90m in cash, €20m in SigmaRoc shares and €8m in cash for non-core assets. AK&M News has reported that Dolomitas will join SigmaRoc as a new business unit. The acquisition advances SigmaRoc's upstream growth strategy and increased focus on Baltic countries. The parties expect the transaction to complete before the end of 2026.

Waterland Ireland invests in Industrial Insulation Specialists and Secon Construction Services

Ireland: Private equity firm Waterland Ireland has invested in Industrial Insulation Specialists and fellow insulation systems supplier Secon Construction Services. RTÉ News has reported that the companies will form a combined entity, retaining both companies’ existing leadership teams, under John Naughton as CEO.

Waterland partner Donal Mac Nioclais noted the companies’ potential for organic expansion, saying that "Their work sits at the heart of mission-critical infrastructure across sectors where Ireland and Europe continue to see significant long-term investment, including life sciences, data centres, energy and semiconductor manufacturing."

Jeonbuk National University team develops biochar insulation using coffee grounds

South Korea: Researchers at Jeonbuk National University have developed a biodegradable thermal insulation composite from porous biochar derived from spent coffee grounds, according to a paper submitted to the Biochar journal. The team combined the biochar, pre-mixed in water, ethanol and propylene glycol, with a biodegradable ethyl cellulose matrix. The resulting composite recorded a thermal conductivity of 0.04W/m·K, comparable to commercial expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation.
